Great Hope Foundation is a non-profit organization that exists to spread the message of hope and compassion to the underprivileged persons in Nigeria. We are driven by the conviction that a single action geared towards meeting a need in a person's life can make a difference, and that collective actions can greatly impact the community and the world at large. We believe in doing our part towards making the world a better place for all.
A BIT OF BACKGROUND
Great Hope Foundation is the initiative of Rev. Dr. Sam Edem and his wife, Kate. It started as a burden to help anyone who was in need or in trouble. This started since 1990 when they married.
Over the years, regardless of the tough situations they found themselves, they never failed to provide charitable services to the needy around them in the way they could. Though many have taken an undue advantage of their passion to deceive and defraud them, their encouragement to continue was stemmed on the fact that whatever service they rendered to anybody was invariably a service rendered to the Lord who will reward everyone.
Without going with a particular name, they have been involving in many charitable services, including giving scholarships to some orphans and less privileged children, helping the widows and orphans with food stuff and clothing, as well as empowering some to learn trade. In January 2020, the founder felt led to set aside part of his family's income to help and empower the needy. As he started doing this, on Monday, 6th April 2020, God gave him a vision to start a full fledged Foundation which is today known as Great Hope Foundation. To empower orphans, widows and vulnerable children through giving of scholarships and grants to set up businesses so they can become productive and responsible members of the society.

Our Focus
Our focus is fourfold: This includes addressing the physical needs of our target people's groups, provision of scholarships to the needy and less privileged ones, empowerment and missions support initiatives.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
One Step at a Time
Education, as they say, is the key to unlocking a better society. We are making efforts to address and eradicate illiteracy from the society by offering scholarship opportunities to the less privileged children and orphans. To enable us accomplish this, the Foundation has opened a school in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria with the name Great Hope School. Here we train less privileged children and buy school uniforms for them free of charge. We trust that the Lord will provide the funds we need to equip the school and establish it at other places. Edie Mike joined Great Hope Foundation with the vision and drive to improve upon the communication system of the Foundation, while being focused on developing the organization with experience and integrity. He also serves in the Foundation as our Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
